There will always be fashion crazes and trends because of the demand. For me, fashion is all about creativity, expression, and incorporating bits and pieces of trends in my day-to-day style. If you’re heading over from my Instagram or are curious about Sunday’s OOTD, I’m discussing details and how I got ready in 20 mins!

New to Town
I’ve been more conscious of the products I’m using on my skin and have been on a hunt to find a new skincare routine. I was excited when Sweet Oak Care reached out to me because it’s all about skincare, body care and so much more. Sweet Oak Care is a new subscription box company created by Collin and Alannah, a couple from Carleton Place. The products are carefully selected by them as they include some of what they love. What really speaks to me is that all products are made of natural ingredients and handmade by Canadian brands because Y’all know I’m all about supporting local! The subscription box costs $30/month and includes 4-5 handmade products (ranging from skincare, snacks, and organic teas)!
Review
I took my sweet time reviewing the products because I wanted to test them out over a longer period of time before I gave my opinion. I also want to mention that you don’t always love everything you try and with that being said, not every product was for me, but overall I enjoyed it! I go in-depth about what worked, what didn’t, and why. If you’d like to learn more about the brands I’ve mentioned below, feel free to click on the links.
I’m going to start off with the Sweet Oak Care May 2018 box, it included:
Natural Panda‘s Rose Bathbomb: I absolutely loved the bath bomb, I’m really into nice long baths and relaxation so I was excited to try it out. The bath bomb contains essential oils which left my dry skin feeling a bit more hydrated after using. I used the bath bomb in combination with the Duckish Citrus Bath Salts (from the June box) and it was a great and relaxing experience.
Wilderness Soap Co. Soap in Rosemary Mint with Glacial Clay- When I opened the May box, something was smelling amazing from the box and it was this soap! I don’t like using it on my face but it’s great for my body and I will be purchasing other scents once I’m done with this one. Besides having a great product, I love that Wilderness Soap Co. soaps are all handmade, natural, and vegan!
Delia Organics Natural Skin Therapy Wake-Up Moisturizing Lotion: I was excited to try this product because it’s a great base for makeup and while that’s true, it didn’t work for me. That being said, my mom ended up trying it and she likes it. I really wanted to love this product because it’s lightweight and makes your skin feel soft. Unfortunately, it made me breakout and I initially thought it was because I’m trying natural products but after three weeks of giving it a fair chance, I stopped using it. What I did appreciate was that it provided a great base for my makeup and smells great.
Beth and Olivia Pink Clay Face Mask: This has been one of my favourite products that I received from Sweet Oak Care. Pink Clay is great for people with dry skin as well as people with combination skin. It pulls out gunk from pores basically and leaves your face feeling soft. I’ve tried a few clay masks and I am loving this one because it’s lightweight and I don’t have to leave it on for too long (the bottle says to leave on for 15 mins but I take it off when I notice it’s mostly dry). I will definitely be purchasing the Pink Clay Mask once I’ve gone through the bottle.
Overall, I enjoyed the first ever Sweet Oak Care box and it was great to try out products I may not have come across. After the May box, Collin and Allanah not only reduced the cost of the box (from $40/month to $30/month), but they started to include snacks and organic teas.
June Sweet Oak Care box included:
Red Lemon Natural Living Heavenly Blooms roll on perfume: I’ll start off by expressing that reviewing a scent is very personal as our tastes differ. In general, I prefer muskier scents which is why I didn’t gravitate towards this product. I wanted to review it fairly so I tested it out in regards to how it applies, how long it lasts, if you can actually smell the perfume, etc. When you apply it to your skin, it feels nice (contains vitamin e as well as a bunch of other goodness) and you definitely can smell it. I wouldn’t say it lasts the entire day but I like the size of the bottle because you can easily pop it into your bag and reapply as needed. I would definitely recommend this perfume to anyone that likes floral and sweet scents!
Duckish Natural Skincare Bath Salts in Citrus: As I mentioned above, I tried this product with the Natural Panda bath bomb. I like the bath salts because they smell amazing. I’m not picky with bath salts in general but I do like them to smell nice and these definitely do. I love to distress at the end of the week and take a nice long and hot bath. Bath salts help relax your muscles which is why it’s a great addition to my bath routine.
Duckish Natural Skincare Body Butter in Grapefruit Pamplemousse: I absolutely love this product because it’s so hydrating. I keep it by my bedside and apply to my elbows, hands, and neck before going to bed. I would recommend applying this at night vs. day because it has a thicker consistency.
Tease Duchess of Earl Black Tea Blend: When I saw the packaging I sincerely appreciated that Tease has an ethical tea partnership and they stand for women’s empowerment. I also like that it’s natural, wheat free and GMO-free. My mom drinks tea close to 4-8 times a day so I had to include her as a part of my tea tasting. We both liked it and my mom has started to use the tea and add other ingredients to make a chai. I think it’s fair to say, I’ll have to pick up some more after it’s done!
I liked the June box especially because I’m able to use the products in my daily routine. In the future, I would love to see more of a theme for each box.
